A wild garden on a Moroccan hillside
I've been lucky enough to visit this magical garden near Tangier twice. The first time in November 2016 and the second time in May 2018. The garden is the creation of Umberto Pasti, author, garden designer and passionate collector. He first came here for a walk 30 years ago from Tangier, and was so enchanted by the place that he moved heaven and earth to make a home here; a simple stone house and a wonderful garden literally carved from the hillside. His mission over the years has been to save local flora, particularly the indigenous irises such as Iris tingitana, which are disappearing because of urban development. The garden is one of the most enchanting places I have ever been to. Beautifully simple, utterly peaceful and created with love and integrity.
