Join Clare in her garden near Pangbourne for a morning session on border design and an afternoon session on creating seasonal pots. Join one or both sessions and bring a picnic to eat in the garden. Tea, coffee and homemade cakes will be served.

10.30am-1pm: Designing a successful border for year-round interest

Clare will talk about the basics of planting a border from scratch. You will learn how to: • work out aspect and soil type • plan a border for sun or shade • include evergreen structure • think about colour and shape • choose both star plants and fillers • add interest in every season

2pm-4.30pm: Planting pots for successional colour

Clare shows how to create dynamic and interesting pots using a range of different plants. You will learn how to: • choose a variety of container types and sizes • select the right compost • plant up permanent pots with shrubs or perennials • create changing seasonal displays • grow your own container plants from seed • plant up a pot for shade • care for your pots once they are planted.

Each session costs £40, or join both for £70
